Soapbox Kitty
Bear with me, it is going to take a bit to make (hopefully) my point,
I live in the boonies which is well documented, but what I have not told
you so far is that I live in an old farm house that was built without a
real foundation. In other words, the house was built right on the ground.
For folks that don’t concern themselves with structural integrity, this means
little. But what does catch most folks attention is that I get a lot of
uninvited guest into the house. For example, crickets, beetles, mice, snakes …
Yes, I have even had a baby rattler in the house. That critter will get even the
bravest feller into wearing slippers when he gets up in the middle of the
night to check the radiator.
Well anyway, I get to catch a lot of these ‘guests’ with poison and traps. Did
you know that mice really like Parmesan cheese? Sprinkle some of that dried cheese
on a trap and in the next morning ya’ got yourself a mouse with a neck problem.
Which brings me back to the picture. I had been catching a few mice as they
start migrating inside/outside for Spring. In the mornings, I go around and check
the traps to see how many critters I got overnight. And about a month ago I
noticed this cat hanging around waiting for my trappings. Every morning,
there she would be, waiting patiently for me (and the catch). Usually feral cats won’t
have such a predictable schedule, I think that the coyotes have fairly accurate
Timex watches to keep the cats, chickens, and others schedule.
So, all the above leads me to believe that this here Kitty is just another
abandoned cat that is seeking refuge. (Here comes the Soapbox part, finally)
Folks that drop off their domesticated critter into what they think is
the ‘wilds’ are plumb arse idiots and should be shot themselves. Especially
when they drop off cats that have been de-clawed! Now I doubt if I will
ever be able to get close enough to catch this Kitty cause it has been
scared to death too many times, so that means the cat will DIE if I can not
keep it around with sacrificial mice catchings. Dagnabit!
Please, do me a favor, if ya’ hear of anyone that has dropped of a critter
so that it has a chance to live on its own in the wild instead of giving
the animal away to a friend, neighbor, or even a Humane Society, give
them a big old slap up along side of their head for me, please!

More Precipitation
Okay, 5.4 inches of rain on Wednesday, .4 on Thursday and now another .6 last night. Throw in the .2 on Tuesday night and the total rainfall for this week is 6.8″! According to the Weather Channel, Wray averages only 17.54 inches a year. We got darn near 40% of our average precipitation in less then a week. Woo Doggies! Makes a feller think about packing a pair of rubber under wear!
Quack atcha’ later fellow duckies.

Hello Wray!
No you did not get a different site, you are still at the Wray Post, we just have changed formats. The change to Word Press should, at least in hopefully the near future, be a time saver for me. Which should mean more content.
I hope to be able to post pictures that have caught my eye, like the one above. If you care to see the full size image, just click on the picture. Most images will be 800 x 600 pixels, that can be used for wallpapper. If you are not too choosy
