| Congratulations to Harley Witte! Harley is being recognized through WRAC Senior Connections for his dedication to wellness. Each month WRAC is featuring a senior member who takes the initiative and makes positive choices to enhance their own well-being. Activities that keep Harley physically active include: walking and yard work. Harley also likes to get out and hunt prairie dogs and coyotes when he feels up to it. Harley volunteers his time on various committees; he also serves on the WRAC board of Directors and was a past board member of the Wray Health Initiative. |
| He was a member of the Blue Ribbon Panel and is actively involved with the school. He devotes much of his time to his church as well.
Recreation time involves activities he can do without aggravating the arthritis in his knees. A big part of Harley’s enjoyment comes from the fun he receives in teasing, and what Harley calls, “harassing” people, whether he knows you or not. For those of you who do know Harley he is quick witted and is always good for a smile or a laugh. He loves to get together with his hunting buddies even though it isn’t about the sport itself, but rather the time spent re-living “old times” and catching up on what’s new and of course telling a joke or two. Harley has had some health set backs in his time. Stomach cancer, blood clots and collapsed lungs to name a few and those mentioned came all in a row. Nine years ago Harley thought his earthly time might be coming to an end, but the good Lord had other plans. Harley’s strong faith and positive attitude has given him his life back. Harley will be the first to tell you it wasn’t an easy road. From only being able to walk ½ of a lap around the WRAC walking track and having to rest to finally accomplishing three laps without stopping was cause for celebration. Today there aren’t too many days you don’t see Harley walking the WRAC track and these days three laps have turned into three miles. Harley celebrates everyday, even those that aren’t so good, and lives each day realizing, “this is the day that God has made, let’s rejoice and be glad in it!” |
