Old Tyme Saturday '06
It was the 19th Century and the young Country of America was expanding and growing. Thru purchase and conquest the country was moving west. The Indians were pushed North and South and the great herds of buffalo depleted due to demand for sport, hides, and meat. The Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevada offered mining and trapping. The vast area of the great plains offered free land for homesteaders and vast open pasture range for cattlemen and ranchers. It was a new frontier and ranching and farming were the backbone of life in the great plains of Colorado. Thus was born the “Spirit of the Frontier” for eastern Colorado.
